WHAT IS NUTRITIONAL MEDICINE?
Nutritional medicine is an individualised, client-centred, science-based approach that empowers clients and practitioners to work together to address the underlying causes of disease and promote optimal wellness through restoring balance to the body.
WHAT KIND OF CONDITIONS DO YOU TREAT?
There’s not a lot of things that nutritional medicine cannot treat. If you look at my Services you can see an extensive list of what conditions I work with. Nutritional medicine is much more than a food plan. It is all about investigating the root cause and discovering why you may have a certain conditions or symptoms such as brain fog, bloating, skin problems, mood issues etc. If you book a free discovery call with me, we can have a discussion about how I may be able to support you.
WHAT DO I RECIEVE IN MY NUTRITION PLAN?
Your bio-individualised (personalised) nutrition and lifestyle plan are based on your goals and needs discussed in our initial consultation. Generally, it includes health and nutrition advice based on your needs and goals, food planning and scheduling, recipes based on your likes and dislikes, sometimes it may include supplementation and training recommendations or other information.
DO YOU OFFER ANY ONGOING SUPPORT?
Yes! I strongly believe, and studies have shown, that continued support helps to keep you on track and goal focused. I also love to catch-up and hear how you are going. I can then adjust your plan or offer additional advice as required. Additionally, I like to send out follow-up SMS texts or emails to check in on you from time to time so that you know I am here looking out for your best interests.
CAN I CLAIM TELEHEALTH REBATES ON MY HEALTH FUND?
You may be able to claim telehealth rebates if you are with the following Health Fund Providers: HBF, CUA, Australian Health Management (AHM) and Medibank.
CAN I CONSULT VIA TELEHEALTH OR DO I NEED TO SEE YOU IN PERSON?
You have the option of face to face or telehealth depending on where you live and your personal preference.
DO YOU WORK WITH ATHLETES?
Yes! I am very passionate about sport and fueling for performance.
DO YOU WORK WITH CHILDREN?
Yes, I love working with children. I am a mother and grandmother myself and love working with children and supporting parents and loved ones.
HOW CAN A NUTRITIONIST ASSIST WITH COVID RECOVERY?
As a nutritionist I am qualified in nutritional medicine and dedicated to providing the tools for you to use to enjoy the healthiest version of yourself, even through sickness. Covid has been no exception. While prevention is important, there needs to be focus on what to do when you get Covid to help alleviate severe symptoms and assist in avoiding longer term problems where you can. I can provide you with potent, high quality complementary supplements and treatment protocols both for COVID and following vaccination that are well researched and effective.
WILL YOU MAKE ME CHANGE MY DIET, LIFESTYLE OR WAY OF THINKING?
The short answer is YES. I most probably will. If you aren’t prepared to make these changes, then have a think about how prepared you are to live with your symptoms.
I aim to help you optimise your health and need you to be motivated to do that. I don’t expect you to do a complete overhaul in the first visit!
I am there to support you through any changes, and help you implement these changes for long term success.
HOW DOES A CONSULTATION WORK?
- Start by contacting me for a consultation through the contact me page
- I will contact you for a discovery call or direct booking
- Once the appointment has been booked you will receive a confirmation email containing an intake form to complete, appointment time and type (phone, zoom or face-to-face) and payment instructions.
- The online consultation calls are conducted either by phone or hosted on Zoom conferencing software - you can use your computer or smartphone. If using your phone (recommended) please download the Zoom app before the appointment to save time. Please make sure you have audio and video enabled.
- Face-to-face appointments are conducted at my clinic
- At the time of the appointment, I will call you or if we are using zoom just open that meeting link from the consultation email and the consultation will begin!
- If we are meeting fac-to-face, please present yourself to my clinic
- The duration of the initial consultation is 60-90 minutes. Return consultations are 60 minutes in length. Ongoing follow-ups are 30 minutes in length.
How will treatment work?
- At the end of the consultation a full treatment plan is typed and emailed to you ready for your next appointment where we will go through it together in detail. The plan will include your natural medicine prescription, dosages, dietary recommendations, lifestyle suggestions and referrals for testing if required
- Every treatment plan is unique to you and designed to help you achieve your goals.
HOW LONG IS A NUTRITION CONSULTATION?
Your initial consultation is 60-90 minutes in duration, your post initial consultation goes through your plan and recommendations and is 60 mins. Further follow-ups are 30 mins. SMS and follow up emails are provided free of service, however if it is something more complex, we will schedule a 30 min appointment.
CAN I CLAIM NUTRITION CONSULTS ON MY HEALTH FUND?
Claiming consultations through your health fund depends on which health fund you are with and the level of coverage you have. Currently the following health funds allow you to claim: APIA Health Insurance (NIB), Australian Health Management (AHM), Australian Unity (b), Credicare Health Fund (CUA), GU Health (b), HBF (Inc GMF), Health Partners, health.com.au, Latrobe Health Services, Medibank Private, Mildura Health Fund, NIB (AAMI & Suncorp), Qantas health Insurance (NIB), Queensland Country Health (Inc Territory Health) & Westfund.
DO YOU ACCEPT PAYMENT PLANS?

WHAT SORT OF QUESTIONS DO YOU ASK DURING A CONSULTATION?
In your initial consultation I ask comprehensive questions based on your goals, your initial medical screening, and your current health needs. I base the questions around the body’s systems and what is relevant for you. I also ask questions related to your medical history, family history, food preferences, budget constraints, current exercise/movement, sleep, stress, blood or other tests and anything else relevant. These questions help to inform me of your goals and needs so that I can assist you in achieving your very best life.
ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL FEES OR COSTS?
I may recommend further testing or supplementation to assist in the discovery and healing process. I do not force testing or supplements on any of my clients. My principle approach is better health through the food you eat and your lifestyle. However, if you have more complex issues or deficiencies, we will negotiate the very best way forward together.
WHAT IF I'M ON MEDICATION AND UNDER THE CARE OF MY DOCTOR OR OTHER HEALTH PROFESSIONAL/COACH?
If you are under the care of a Doctor, General Practitioner, Specialist, Coach or Allied Health Professional, I am happy to communicate with them on your behalf, to discuss recommendations, medications, medical conditions, injuries, training etc as required. I also have a Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Nutritional Medicine and comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease management and pharmacology.
DO I NEED A REFERRAL TO SEE YOU?
No, you don’t, you can contact me directly using my contact page. If you are under the care of a Doctor, Allied Health Professional or Coach I am happy to communicate with them on your behalf to provide you the very best service and support.
